Peter Shaindlin
Chief Operating Officer

Peter Shaindlin is recognized as one of the leading visionaries and change agents in the global luxury hospitality industry. Shaindlin oversees all aspects of company operations, development and business strategy. Shaindlin has achieved international recognition for developing and managing iconic brands and properties and for inspiring organizations to achieve their fullest qualitative and financial potential. Prior to joining Halekulani Corporation, Shaindlin was founding principal of Lotus Luxury Group, vice president, Caribbean for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, and previously managed such illustrious and celebrated institutions as Rosewood’s Little Dix Bay, the Boca Raton Resort & Club, The Stanhope Hotel and Grand Bay Hotel in New York City and Assistant General Manager of Food & Beverage, United Nations World Headquarters in New York.

Yoshinori Maeda
Executive Vice-President

Maeda is a veteran executive and brings with him an extensive background of asset management and hotel operations. After graduating from Keio University his career began at Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., in 1981, working in various capacities that included significant Housing/Project Developments, and Building Management in Japan. In 1990, he garnered further experience overseas with his executive assignments at Mitsui Fudosan (U.S.A.) Inc. in Los Angeles, in building development. And in 1999, he lead administration and commercial leasing of Mitsui Fudosan America Inc. properties, in New York City, including the flagship 1251 Avenue of the Americas. Maeda returned to Tokyo in 2003, to head the administration of Mitsui’s Real Estate Solution Service. In 2006, he joined Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management Co., Ltd., to oversee hotel operations for Mitsui Garden Hotels, a division which included 15 properties throughout Japan. Maeda joined Halekulani Corporation as Executive Vice President and Board member in early 2010. His leadership responsibilities include overseeing the expanded scope of Asset Management for the company, and enhancing the hotel management initiatives of our entities.

Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani - Takashi Nakayama

Takashi Nakayama
Senior Vice President,
Secretary/Treasurer

Nakayama joined Mitsui Fudosan Co. Ltd. following his graduation from Hitotsubashi University in 1987. In the early stage of his career, he was responsible for the company’s housing developments in Tokyo and surrounding areas. He transferred to the Corporate Administration Division where he was in charge of organizational structure, management of corporate administrative regulations and development of annual reports. In 1999, he moved to the Hotel Development Division where he oversaw the company’s hotel development projects in central Tokyo, including distinguished luxury brands such as Mandarin Oriental and Ritz-Carlton. He was assigned to Halekulani Corporation in May 2006, as Senior Vice-President, responsible for corporate planning and asset management. In October 2006, he was promoted to his current position as Senior Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, expanding his responsibilities to include new business development.

Patricia Tam
Vice President, Brand Development

Tam has been an intrinsic part of the Halekulani legacy for more than 20 years, during which she served as General Manager for both Halekulani and Waikiki Parc Hotel. In the course of her prestigious career, Tam was the first female GM in Hawaii and was later named the first female Independent Hotelier of the World. She has been listed among the 200 Most Powerful Women in Travel and has also served as Chair of the Waikiki Improvement Association, Hawaii Hotel Association and as a member of Aloha United Way. Under her leadership, both Halekulani and Waikiki Parc Hotel have garnered innumerable industry awards and recognition. Today, Tam oversees all corporate community relations and vigilantly oversees the hotels’ operating and service standards.

Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani, Glenn Yamashita

Glenn Yamashita
Director of Finance


Yamashita is a highly-seasoned executive with a diverse corporate background and an equally broad range of skills and education. Yamashita holds a degree in business from the University of Hawaii, and a Masters in business administration from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Illinois. His majors included finance, marketing and management strategy. His previous tenures include First Hawaiian Bank, The James Campbell Estate, Sprint Hawaii, Pihana Pacific Inc. and Broadband ITV, Inc.

Dean Fujitani
Director of Corporate Marketing & Strategic Partnerships

Fujitani oversees marketing initiatives and strategic partnership for the iconic brands of Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani. He joined Halekulani in 1983 and served as Director of Sales and Marketing for the world-renowned hotel. He has spearhead acclaimed brand initiatives such as the “For You Everything” program, “Masters of the Palette” exclusive Exotic Car programs and signature connoisseur industry events, just to name a few. Fujitani continues to develop innovative and exclusive partnerships with today’s leading publications and retail brands which redefine the industry standards of guest experiences within Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani’s luxury and boutique hotel portfolio. 

Diane Ako
Director of Public Relations

Born in Hawaii and raised in Hawaii, the East Coast, and the West Coast, Diane Ako has 16 years of experience in broadcast, print and online media. Ako was a television anchor and reporter for KHNL-TV, NBC’s local Hawaii affiliate, and its sister station KFVE-TV. She previously anchored and reported in Pennsylvania, New Mexico and California. Ako has won multiple awards for her work, including three Emmy nominations from the Northern California Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, three first place awards from the Society of Professional Journalists- Hawaii Chapter, and a Bronze Telly for video production. She has published articles in various media, as well as blogs for Hawaii’s largest daily newspaper, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Ako earned an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Menlo College, Atherton, California, with a B.A. in Communications. Ako has strong ties to the community, volunteering with the Hawaii Zenyo Jujutsu Kai to promote a Womens’ Assault Prevention Course, and serves on the regional Leadership Council for the American Lung Association.
