May 2012 - Sway to the sounds of the next generation in Hawaiian music at House Without A Key, when Halekulani hosts guest musicians fourTuesday evenings in May. These special musicians are recipients of the popular Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, often considered the Islands’ Grammy Awards and mark of musical excellence.
It’s part of a state-sponsored, month-long celebration of Hawaiian music, called Mele Mei, whose mission is to celebrate Hawaii’s music and make the state of Hawaii the destination for national and international participants and visitors.
From April 27 to May 29, Mele Mei encompasses over 20 events, including workshops, live concert performances, and awards ceremonies including the 35th annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, a hula competition, and other activities. Events are held throughout Waikiki in various hotels, venues, and the beach. Halekulani is proud to be part of this event.
