HONOLULU, August 13, 2006.  Halekulani, a hotel synonymous with the arts, is pleased to present “The Sustainable Mind, An Evening with Edgy Lee,” as part of its Halekulani Living Masterworks series, on Thursday, September 7, 2006, from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Lee, Hawaii’s premiere filmmaker will share highlights of her accomplished career, the complex art of filmmaking and her vast inspirations derived from Hawaii’s extraordinary history and its people. Guests will enjoy interactive discussions, excerpts of Lee’s films, live music and an exquisite reception of Halekulani designer wines and hors d'oeuvres. Participation is $45 per person.

Edgy Lee is a fifth generation Hawaii-born writer-producer-editor.  Her most recent work, "The Hawaiians Reflecting Spirit," is a documentary film on Hawaii’s indigenous culture; their understanding of ecosystems oriented to sustainability and how the future of Hawaiians has impact on others.  The film premiered at the opening of the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC. and is receiving rave reviews in its national PBS broadcast across the U.S.

Among Lee's career recognitions are: 2005 Ten Who made a Difference, Honolulu Star Bulletin (Most Influential); 2004 Pacific Business News Leadership Award, Non profit category; 2002 New York Intl Independent Film & Video Festival - Best Cinematography;  2001 HVCB Literary Award; 2000 HVCB Best in Show Award; 2000 Kahili Award Broadcast Media Category; 1998 Chicago International Film Festival, Silver INTERCOM Plaque; 1998 Chicago International Film Festival, Individual Achievement, Writing; 1995 National Educational Media Network Silver Award, among others.
